Privacy

Arspec is an editor for files on your own device. It has no accounts, collects no analytics, and sends nothing anywhere on its own. This page says what leaves your device when you ask it to, where it goes, and what we keep.

It applies to the Arspec application on every platform — Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and the browser version at run.arspec.app — and to the websites arspec.app and arspec.org. The application and the sites are made by InfFront (inffront.com), which is the "we" below. Last revised 9 October 2026.

The application

Arspec reads and writes the files you open, where you put them. It keeps its preferences on your device — in the application's settings on a desktop or phone, in the browser's own storage in the browser version — and its recent-files list and topic documents likewise. None of that is sent to us or to anyone else.

Three things you can do in the app make it talk to another computer. Each happens only when you do it, and each is described below.

Opening a file by its address

When you open an ontology by URL, or follow a link such as run.arspec.app/?f=…, the app fetches that file from the server the address names, the way a browser would, and sends nothing of yours with the request. That server sees the request as it sees any other.

The AI assistant

The built-in assistant talks to an AI service that you configure — Anthropic, OpenAI, or any service that speaks the same interface — using your key for it. What you type in the chat, and the parts of your open document the assistant's tools read in order to answer, go to that service, under that service's own terms, not through us. We never see them. Your key is stored in your operating system's credential store on a desktop or phone, and in the browser's storage in the browser version.

On Windows, macOS and Linux the app can also offer its tools to an AI chat application of your own over MCP. That connection is on your own machine only (the loopback address); the chat application then talks to its provider under its own terms. Nothing in this path reaches us either.

Bug reports

When you press Report a bug and then Send, the app sends one report to arspec.app, and not before. The dialog shows what it will carry, and you choose:

Your profile — your own perspectives and styles — is never included. With the report, our service records what any web request carries: your IP address, your browser or app's user-agent string, your preferred language, and the country, region and city the address resolves to. That record is kept apart from the report you composed.

Reports are stored in our account with Amazon Web Services, in the US East region, and a notification is sent to us by email. We read them to find and fix problems, and for nothing else; we do not share them. A report is kept while the problem it describes is open, and deleted when it is resolved or when you ask: write to hello@inffront.com with the date you sent it and roughly what it said, and we will find it and delete it, the sender record included.

The button can be switched off in Preferences, on the About page under Feedback.

The websites

arspec.app, run.arspec.app and arspec.org are static pages and files served from Amazon CloudFront. They set no cookies and run no analytics or tracking scripts. The pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which sees the request for the font files as any web server would. We do not keep access logs for these sites.

The download page reads a small manifest from arspec.app to learn which builds exist, and the demo link loads the demo files from arspec.org; neither request carries anything about you beyond what any web request does.

App stores

Where you install Arspec from a store — the Microsoft Store, Google Play, the App Store — the store's operator collects what it collects, under its own policy, and tells us only what it tells every publisher: aggregate counts, never who you are. Arspec has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.

Children

Arspec is a tool for working with ontologies and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, children included, beyond what a bug report you choose to send carries.

Changes and contact

If what the app or the sites do with data changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top with it. Questions about anything here: hello@inffront.com, or an issue on GitHub.
